A Time for Celebration

Culture Faire Sign.Rev2Our sailors have been put to rest and the dead pirate’s are no longer terrorizing our corner of the island.  It is a time of sadness for those lost and a time for renewal.  We can use this time to to bounce back.  Recuperate.  Build our stores.  I for one am grateful for the chance to look forward to something positive in our future.

Scald – Hand Crafted Goods & Trades

With this thought in mind I would like to announce that Scald, Hand Crafted’s owner, is hosting a Cultural Faire the weekend of May 5-6.  The event will be held on the beach in conjunction with our trade fair.   A covered area will be set up for people to display their own arts and talents. We consider all craftsmanship a work of art.  Those that create fine knives are as welcome as those who create pots or make jewelry.  A staging area will also be available to allow for storytelling and dance.   And of course we shall not forget food and drink.  There should be ample for all.

Everyone is free to bring their own artwork and displays to set up as well as opportunity to showcase your talents. If you have any special considerations or questions, please contact Scald at the Hand Crafted dock.

This event will be ran in conjunction with our monthly Trade Fair.  But please… keep in mind that trade goods will be slim this month. The Salty Swallow will be leaving port severely shorthanded.  First order of business will be sailor recruitment in either Shalan’ti or Aradia.

Black Molly Terror Must End

Pirate Beach Battle-2

Black Molly as seen invading the Deeper Reef

Black Molly has struck again…this time right near our reef. First the undead vengeful pirate arose at the Crone’s Eye with the help of a necromancer, then she attacked the market at the Ebon Reach, bringing back more of her crew. Then, from what I have heard, she then next landed at the base of Tilikambo – the home of the Asings – once again raising her dead crew from the earth. Finally, they went and attacked our own Deeper territory.

Ebon Reach…the Moei Asing…and now my own Kuvari’s Deep…I fear this dead pirate is attacking every single one of us, with Stormstead being the final target. It would make sense, because that is where Black Molly’s tortuous execution took place.

Pirate Beach Battle

Battle scene from the beach even as Deepers continued to battle from the waters.

This has to end. For too long we have endured Black Molly’s terror, and we must make sure she and her crew are laid to rest once and for all, before they have a chance to escape and cause terror amidst the open seas once more. It is a final battle I wish to partake in, not run away from. We must all show vigilance and be ready to leap into battle when called. Eyr is in danger, and I will not float around as our home is terrorized by the undead. So I plead to all of Eyr, join me in ending this threat, once and for all!

Black Molly Returns – Citizens Rally for Battle

A battle erupted in the Ebon Reach Marketplace on Tuesday night that gave proof to our fears that Black Molly has risen from her watery grave.  Not only has she risen but reports indicate there are traces of void magic in her presence and that she is calling back her comrades who were killed in the raids from a year ago.  The undead are gathering strength. .

Void magics are at play here.  The lights I heard described which surrounded the pirate – we have seen similar happenings with those affected by Void magics.  But even had I not heard of this report, Mahan and myself witnessed Ganis opening the large stone door to grant the skeletal pirate access.  Reports have him leading Molly from the Crone’s Eye were her remains were initially stored.  Skeleton no more, she seems to be fully empowered and been granted the ability to summon the dead.

Kuvari’s Deep has offered their assistance in this matter.  The Talisae, Xae’raan Thiaroe herself stated as such and for this we are grateful.   We must seek out the Moei to determine their participation.  They must also be warned if they are not yet aware of the implications.  The pirates targeted the Asing apothecary to not only for the purposes of theft but also to kidnap.  Their former Myan was taken as hostage aboard the pirate ship and we believe they intended to keep her for knowledge of poisons and herbs. The pirates were beaten back but not before escaping with the Myan.  Their blood stained the roots of Tilikambo near the Ku’vesi pools.  Other fierce battles took place during Gnome Depot/craft dock robbery and the final battle on the beach.

Last Year’s Scene of the severed pirate heads as they were collected and displayed on the fishing dock.

At this time I have to thank those denizens who rose to fight against the undead.  Reverus and Nyx were both in the Medica last night being patched up from wounds sustained.  I collected many of the details from then.  The wizard, Elendil Olorin and Siren Delilah were also described.  There were two others present who also stood against the dead.  One in Shalan’ti style garb and another that appeared to be a scribe – perhaps companions?  Their identity as of this time remains unknown.

Black Molly’s execution remains a stain on our memory.  Most who were there do not speak of what occurred.  But that does not change the fact that these pirates robbed, attacked, and raised chaos with us for weeks last year.  We must stand ready to battle against them again.  I believe we should begin watching the other locations where these battles took place. Black Molly called forth her dead companions from within Ebon Reach.  The other battle locations – the Beach, Tilikambo, and Gnome Depot – should be watched as there were heavy casualties in these areas as well.   And let’s not forget the dock where Molly was executed and her companion’s heads were displayed on pikes.   Everyone gather your weapons for use with the undead.  Lights.  Torches.  Magics if you have them.  All will be needed if we are to succeed this time around.

A Whale of a Tale

Shalan'ti Strikes Back-Rumour Mill

Chaos and carnage reigned as Kuvari’s Deep lead an attack against Shalan’ti Mercenaries to recover their Talisae

Ocean waters ran red with the blood on Monday night.   Bodies littered the waters and along the shoreline.  But this time the bodies were Shalan’ti Mercenaries – not members of our community.  The Vega family will be sorely disappointed when their crew does not return.  Right now I’m very glad that they are gone.  Though I am already wondering what this might mean for Stormstead’s future.  Right now those with the energy to celebrate are doing so.  Others are tending their wounded.  Tomorrow it will all sort out.

Kuvari’s Deep lead the attack against the ship.  This only fitting since since their Talisae had been taken.  Xae’raan Thiaroe was recovered from the wreckage before it sank.   I noted she had to be carried from the ship.  I wonder at the extent of her wounds.  I was too far away to see specifics.  Juni was freed as well.  Their forms appearing as the ship roared into flame and began it’s final tilt.

Khanya and Juni survey the chaos

Khanya and Juni in the aftermath

I observed the battle from the cliffs of Ohm.  My bow was ready but not needed.  I heard the Triton, Tharros, call out and chaos quickly ensued.  Whales were driven in and crashed into the ship.  One whale even ridden by a siren. More explosions and lights – like those used against our people at the Trade Fair.  Although this time we were more prepared with fiery weapons of our own.  The Shalan’ti were swarmed as their boat began to capsize.  A horde of warriors poured from the waters and the beach onto the ship.  The body count in the waters rose swiftly after that.  And even from my vantage point I could recognize the siren feeding frenzy which ensued.

Tonight a powerful message was delivered to the Vega family as well as the government in Shalan’ti.  One of their own powerful families has taken a very visible hit. It may take awhile for the realization to reach them since the mercenaries are dead.   But this latest will not go unnoticed.   I now worry for Stormstead’s ship and our trade.  The Swallowed Pride has already set sail.  I cannot send word or turn it around.  Can only hope they are prepared for whatever meets them.

Shalan'ti Strikes Back - Rumour Mill-2Whatever happens, our waters are now cleared.  We will need to be even more watchful of strangers.  The waters will need to be guarded even more closely.  And we should all be prepared.  My vote is for weapons caches and intend to bring that up at the next Stormstead meeting.

Body Count Rises on Eyr’s Shores

I missed Saturday’s Fair, and from the reports I’ve heard this was a wise decision. The reports have been fairly consistent from those observers I have come across.  It began as normal – businesses and vendors setting up on the beach near the Reef, people preparing for trade and looking to the future.  Even those that suspected that a Shalan’ti ship cloaked with invisibility spells was in the area did not forego their plans. But none were expecting an open attack.  The ship – believed to be a mercenary ship – has been in the area since at least last Thursday, though possibly longer as we feel they have been watching us for longer.  But last Thursday was the date the Deeper jousting tournament was disrupted and their Talisae, Xae’raan Thiaroe, disappeared.

Firebolts rent the air aimed for the beach just as the Shalan’ti ship shimmered into view, showing armed warriors headed for the beach. Chaos followed as Eyr residents fled, and the Deepers, with the help of a few brave others, formed an attack. It appears our efforts to keep Stormstead seemingly neutral have failed.  I see this open attack a direct retaliation for our interference the night the Wyvern attacked those gathered and was killed because of it.

Murdered Sailors the Cause of these Vicious Acts?

I heard the sound of explosions and flashes of light as far away as my den.  By the time I reached the cliffs of Ohm, the battle was nearly over.  The firebolts having died down to glowing pits in the sand, the Shalan’ti making a retreat back to their ship with more hostages taken.  Reports say that Juni of the Moei Asing was taken along with another siren – Neris.  The Talisae is believed to be a hostage on the boat.  If they have her, is only a matter of time before she ends up in one of those shrouds and tossed out onto the waves.   How long before these hostages meet the same fate as the bodies shrouded in sailcloth that now pile the banks?  “An eye for an eye.”  I’ve heard that adage before and I think that the Vega family of Shalan’ti lives by this code.  Unless thwarted in some way, I do not see them leaving Eyr’s waters until a matching body is delivered – one for each of the sailors.  There is no telling how many hostages are on the boat.  Perhaps they are reaching their count?

Stormstead should exercise caution.  Our relationship with the members of Kuvari’s Deep is tenuous but beneficial.  Relations steering toward positive which is encouraging. It is doubtful that the Salty Swallow could remain in the waters without the protection they can offer.   But this battle with the Shalan’ti poses a real dilemma.  We need to push for peaceful resolution unless we wish to live under fear of attack for the rest of our time here.  The Vega family is known for their vengeance – they would not have risen to power in Shalan’ti without it. I would like to see the Deepers negotiate.  This is the only way I feel they will see any come out of that ship alive and also end the vengeance battle.  In the meantime, I will avoid Eyr’s waterways and passages.  With their cloaking ability, there is no telling where they may strike next.
