“I Am Coming”

“A ploom of blackness appeared as if from nowhere.  Swirling.  Swirling.  All blackness gathered at the center of our own reef.  And when it dissipated, there it was.  The body of a horrifically murdered mer corpse strapped to a wooden plank and left here planted within our own Reef territory. “

“That is exactly how it happened and as it appeared before me.  The Talisae has asked me to pass this information and recall those of the Deep back to the waters.  This is an act of war.  Those unsworn to the Deep will no longer be allowed to pass through our territory unchallenged.”

Ffewuu Baabah, Emissary from Kuvari’s Deep

–Ffewuu Baabah, Kuvari’s Deep Emissary

This was the initial report I received from the Deeper emissary.  The Mer herself seemingly calm at the surface but nervousness revealed in mannerisms and speech.  The Mer was clearly upset.  But from the information delivered it is clear that the skeleton left near Tillikambo was only the first part of the message.

“I AM COMING”

The first installment of the message “I AM” was found on the skeletal corpse left facing Tillikambo within Moei Asing territory.  This second corpse, though not stripped completely of flesh, has the message “COMING” carved into the forehead.  The void taint was left at the first site.  Ffewuu would neither confirm nor deny the presence of void magics around this second corpse but we can only surmise.  As a continuation of the first message I have strong suspicion that void magics are again at the heart of the matter.

Mer Corpse in KD Reef_001

Skinned Mer Corpse Left within the Deep

Powers we have not seen at the surface level are no longer dormant.   There is rising tension in the valley and deadly messages being left.  All of this packaged with the void taint.  All these signs point to the Reach.  It is on the rise again.

Timing could not be worse.  The Moei Asing have been strangely silent.  Juni has not been seen and many are beginning to suspect foul play.  Stormstead has had a tenuous peace with the Moei Asing and Kuvari’s Deep. But if the Deepers are attempting to recall their members, this is cause for alarm for it could lead to a fallout.  Does this mean former alliances and agreements are dissolving?  Stormstead needs to gather it’s friends and allies together.  Guardhouse has been restocked but largely for physical assault.  A call to our magic casters must be made.

I would call for a Stormstead Meeting.  Those interested in the realm and defending against the evils that inhabit it must rally together.  I will continue to report as I am able and will post signs in the tavern once the meeting is set.

An Attack on the Tavern! Boobette Near Death

BoobetteBoobette was found severely beaten the victim of attempted strangulation.   Her poorly abused body had been stuffed inside the hollowed out remains of a dolphin’s corpse.  Blood once again soaks into the tavern floor.

The bar wench and former Stormstead Mayor contender remains in serious condition under the watchful eye of the Master Healer, Hope.  Boobette has not yet awoken to point to a perpetrator but we are hopeful that this will happen soon.  Boobette is a well known and well loved member of the Stormstead Community.  This act that was carried out against her and the poor sea creature was an overt act of aggression.  Not only against one of our own but in a place known to be a welcoming gathering place and open to all.

Suspicions mount and citizens are urged to be on their guard.  This act along with the horrific and ominous happenings near the Mystfolk Mound call for action.

Boobette is an open and kind-hearted woman, not known to withhold her affections for anyone. The macabre scene and how the poor wench had been abused so poorly was horrific.  It sends a clear message of a twisted mind or one that has been twisted with dark void magics.   If her body had not been discovered behind the bar, she would have died there.   We send thanks to Hope, Nia, and Voskil for their work in discovering and escorting Stormstead’s favorite tavern wench to the Medica for recovery and treatment.

I would urge you to remain vigilant and carry your weaponry. Be wary and on guard for suspicious behavior and watchful of strangers.  Whoever did this used the poor wench has a twisted nature.  It could indeed even be someone that walks among us. Citizens use caution!

An Evil Portent Wrapped in Void Taint

—     “I AM” was the message on the skeleton. —

What “I Am” means and to whom is a mystery.   The skeleton stands mounted to a wooden stake in the meadow below Tilikambo.  Arms outstretched and empty eyesockets staring up toward the Asing power base, Mount Tilikambo.  The creature’s bones striated and etched without so much as a stitch or scent of flesh left on them.  Only thin white sinews holding it together.

The meadow site below Tilikambo is all the more confusing for the general chaos around it.  A makeshift perimeter barrier had been placed around the skeleton.  Broken and bent outward as if something had escaped or fled.  Nearby a tent.  Trampled grass.   Fresh bloodstains and a bloodied ax.  A meadow which has not know much unrest since the meteor landed there last year.

Skelly Taint- without clue givers

“I Am” is the Message.

I arrived at the site yesterday morning.  Charles appears to have arrived at the scene just prior to my arrival.  Former lich was studying the skeleton but had no opinions as to whom it could have been.  One of the many questions is whether the poor soul had been alive or dead when this happened.  These were not the bones of someone dug from the earth.  They were fresh – showing none of the porous quality normally shown as they would naturally decompose.

The feel of void taint was about the site. Charles himself who has been infected.   Felt strongest in his presence nonetheless there were traces around the skeleton itself.  Ebon Reach is at the heart of this.  If the void is involved they are at the root of it.    We would do well to seek a cleric.  One that can be trusted.  We need to gather weaponry and be prepared.  There was a feeling of discord withi the site.  The message is incomplete.  I feel there is more to come.  Check on your friends and neighbors and seek out those missing.  Pray that the skeleton is not friend or family member.

I feel that a time of great trouble is about to befall us.  There is a mystery to be unraveled.  I sought out the Asing but none could be found.  Normally I would find Juni at the Great Tree or one of her followers.  The ceremonial fire burned in the pit but there was a feeling of emptiness… a hollowness.  The village, it too was empty when I arrived.  A few jungle elves paddled by on the river but ignored my calls to catch their attention.  Be ready.  Be prepared.  Those of us who call this home must stand together.

A Citizen Warning – Mushroom Sickness

infected mushrooms

Unidentified type of mushroom found growing in Ebon Reach Marketplace

There is concern that the myconids/mosses native to the island have become tainted or infected.  The mosses and mushrooms themselves showing signs of sickness.  And the newest concern is that these infections can be passed to Eyr’s citizens.  I am working to confirm information at this time but time has shown — where there is smoke, there is often fire.  I noted strange growths of both moss and mushroom within the Ebon Reach Marketplace area during the last trade fair.   At that time I thought it a simple anomaly but as I do not frequent this area often, I did not question the type of mushroom or the source.

We have yet to determine how widespread or the effects of such an infection.  Citizens should exercise caution until we can find out more specifics.  Beware of any unknown or unfamiliar mushrooms or moss deposits.  If you see it growing where it has not normally been seen before, I would avoid it and alert others.  At least until we can get a grasp on what this may all mean.  Avoid physical contact and the areas where they grow if possible.

Those with further information are encouraged to come forth.  The tavern is generally the gathering place though parchments can be left at the craft dock.  Pester has proven unreliable as a source for anything but drunken gossip so please ignore him and his ribald suggestions.

Eyr’s Entertainers Sponsor an afternoon of Hedonism!

Eyr’s Entertaining Troupe is sponsoring a “Hedonistic Happy Hour” on the Sandy Beach!  Hedonistic Happy Hour

Times have been good.   Game is plentiful and the suckling boar especially tasty.  Fruits and nuts are in season.  Mangos, passionfruit, coconuts, durien, sugar apples and nuts are scattered throughout the jungle.   The pirates are dead (again) and it is a time of fatness and plenty.

As such, Eyr’s Entertainers are hosting a Hedonistic Happy Hour on the Sandy Beach.  There will be music, dancing along with food and drink that even Aradian aristocracy would envy!

It is time to dress up in your finest to join us for an afternoon of laughter, fun and dancing on the beach at 2 hours past the noonday sun on Saturday.

A Time for Celebration

Culture Faire Sign.Rev2Our sailors have been put to rest and the dead pirate’s are no longer terrorizing our corner of the island.  It is a time of sadness for those lost and a time for renewal.  We can use this time to to bounce back.  Recuperate.  Build our stores.  I for one am grateful for the chance to look forward to something positive in our future.

ItonamiHilltop

Scald – Hand Crafted Goods & Trades

With this thought in mind I would like to announce that Scald, Hand Crafted’s owner, is hosting a Cultural Faire the weekend of May 5-6.  The event will be held on the beach in conjunction with our trade fair.   A covered area will be set up for people to display their own arts and talents. We consider all craftsmanship a work of art.  Those that create fine knives are as welcome as those who create pots or make jewelry.  A staging area will also be available to allow for storytelling and dance.   And of course we shall not forget food and drink.  There should be ample for all.

Everyone is free to bring their own artwork and displays to set up as well as opportunity to showcase your talents. If you have any special considerations or questions, please contact Scald at the Hand Crafted dock.

This event will be ran in conjunction with our monthly Trade Fair.  But please… keep in mind that trade goods will be slim this month. The Salty Swallow will be leaving port severely shorthanded.  First order of business will be sailor recruitment in either Shalan’ti or Aradia.

Black Molly Terror Must End

Pirate Beach Battle-2

Black Molly as seen invading the Deeper Reef

Black Molly has struck again…this time right near our reef. First the undead vengeful pirate arose at the Crone’s Eye with the help of a necromancer, then she attacked the market at the Ebon Reach, bringing back more of her crew. Then, from what I have heard, she then next landed at the base of Tilikambo – the home of the Asings – once again raising her dead crew from the earth. Finally, they went and attacked our own Deeper territory.

Ebon Reach…the Moei Asing…and now my own Kuvari’s Deep…I fear this dead pirate is attacking every single one of us, with Stormstead being the final target. It would make sense, because that is where Black Molly’s tortuous execution took place.

Pirate Beach Battle

Battle scene from the beach even as Deepers continued to battle from the waters.

This has to end. For too long we have endured Black Molly’s terror, and we must make sure she and her crew are laid to rest once and for all, before they have a chance to escape and cause terror amidst the open seas once more. It is a final battle I wish to partake in, not run away from. We must all show vigilance and be ready to leap into battle when called. Eyr is in danger, and I will not float around as our home is terrorized by the undead. So I plead to all of Eyr, join me in ending this threat, once and for all!

Black Molly Returns – Citizens Rally for Battle

A battle erupted in the Ebon Reach Marketplace on Tuesday night that gave proof to our fears that Black Molly has risen from her watery grave.  Not only has she risen but reports indicate there are traces of void magic in her presence and that she is calling back her comrades who were killed in the raids from a year ago.  The undead are gathering strength. .

Void magics are at play here.  The lights I heard described which surrounded the pirate – we have seen similar happenings with those affected by Void magics.  But even had I not heard of this report, Mahan and myself witnessed Ganis opening the large stone door to grant the skeletal pirate access.  Reports have him leading Molly from the Crone’s Eye were her remains were initially stored.  Skeleton no more, she seems to be fully empowered and been granted the ability to summon the dead.

Kuvari’s Deep has offered their assistance in this matter.  The Talisae, Xae’raan Thiaroe herself stated as such and for this we are grateful.   We must seek out the Moei to determine their participation.  They must also be warned if they are not yet aware of the implications.  The pirates targeted the Asing apothecary to not only for the purposes of theft but also to kidnap.  Their former Myan was taken as hostage aboard the pirate ship and we believe they intended to keep her for knowledge of poisons and herbs. The pirates were beaten back but not before escaping with the Myan.  Their blood stained the roots of Tilikambo near the Ku’vesi pools.  Other fierce battles took place during Gnome Depot/craft dock robbery and the final battle on the beach.

piratesbeware_crop

Last Year’s Scene of the severed pirate heads as they were collected and displayed on the fishing dock.

At this time I have to thank those denizens who rose to fight against the undead.  Reverus and Nyx were both in the Medica last night being patched up from wounds sustained.  I collected many of the details from then.  The wizard, Elendil Olorin and Siren Delilah were also described.  There were two others present who also stood against the dead.  One in Shalan’ti style garb and another that appeared to be a scribe – perhaps companions?  Their identity as of this time remains unknown.

Black Molly’s execution remains a stain on our memory.  Most who were there do not speak of what occurred.  But that does not change the fact that these pirates robbed, attacked, and raised chaos with us for weeks last year.  We must stand ready to battle against them again.  I believe we should begin watching the other locations where these battles took place. Black Molly called forth her dead companions from within Ebon Reach.  The other battle locations – the Beach, Tilikambo, and Gnome Depot – should be watched as there were heavy casualties in these areas as well.   And let’s not forget the dock where Molly was executed and her companion’s heads were displayed on pikes.   Everyone gather your weapons for use with the undead.  Lights.  Torches.  Magics if you have them.  All will be needed if we are to succeed this time around.

A Whale of a Tale

Shalan'ti Strikes Back-Rumour Mill

Chaos and carnage reigned as Kuvari’s Deep lead an attack against Shalan’ti Mercenaries to recover their Talisae

Ocean waters ran red with the blood on Monday night.   Bodies littered the waters and along the shoreline.  But this time the bodies were Shalan’ti Mercenaries – not members of our community.  The Vega family will be sorely disappointed when their crew does not return.  Right now I’m very glad that they are gone.  Though I am already wondering what this might mean for Stormstead’s future.  Right now those with the energy to celebrate are doing so.  Others are tending their wounded.  Tomorrow it will all sort out.

Kuvari’s Deep lead the attack against the ship.  This only fitting since since their Talisae had been taken.  Xae’raan Thiaroe was recovered from the wreckage before it sank.   I noted she had to be carried from the ship.  I wonder at the extent of her wounds.  I was too far away to see specifics.  Juni was freed as well.  Their forms appearing as the ship roared into flame and began it’s final tilt.

Khanya and Juni survey the chaos

Khanya and Juni in the aftermath

I observed the battle from the cliffs of Ohm.  My bow was ready but not needed.  I heard the Triton, Tharros, call out and chaos quickly ensued.  Whales were driven in and crashed into the ship.  One whale even ridden by a siren. More explosions and lights – like those used against our people at the Trade Fair.  Although this time we were more prepared with fiery weapons of our own.  The Shalan’ti were swarmed as their boat began to capsize.  A horde of warriors poured from the waters and the beach onto the ship.  The body count in the waters rose swiftly after that.  And even from my vantage point I could recognize the siren feeding frenzy which ensued.

Tonight a powerful message was delivered to the Vega family as well as the government in Shalan’ti.  One of their own powerful families has taken a very visible hit. It may take awhile for the realization to reach them since the mercenaries are dead.   But this latest will not go unnoticed.   I now worry for Stormstead’s ship and our trade.  The Swallowed Pride has already set sail.  I cannot send word or turn it around.  Can only hope they are prepared for whatever meets them.

Shalan'ti Strikes Back - Rumour Mill-2Whatever happens, our waters are now cleared.  We will need to be even more watchful of strangers.  The waters will need to be guarded even more closely.  And we should all be prepared.  My vote is for weapons caches and intend to bring that up at the next Stormstead meeting.
