Here Stands the Death of Governor Jil.
Here stands the Death of the Governor Jil,
not by Bastet, as had been warned,
not by wondering off into the jungles never to return..
but by the hands of those of Stormstead.
The cruelty and savage nature within them.
As was said before, I shall say again,
Their behavior is better suited for the darkness of the Reach.
He served Stormstead Village for six months-
Pushing it forward into a new age of glory, where progress was yet made.
Where its enemies were fallen or pacified, bring about a time of peace.
And a promise yet still for greatness to continue to come its way.
Upon ships of trade, prosperous business, plentiful tradeable goods…
… And protection.
He was kind, or so tried to be. What did his kindness net him?
He was lawful, or so tried to be. What did his law do for him?
He tried to play your game, blending into your society.
Kindness and Law abiding saves no one within the face of betrayal.
Betrayal of Society.
What good was your gift of clemency?
Rotten fish tossed into the Deep.
What have you done with your pledge of amnesty?
Choked it down like bitter vinegar wine.
He sought to give Stormstead among all a place to reside without fear of nature’s whims.
The Kuvari rushes and seeks to rise yet higher still.
The vines creep and coil and pull.
And the void, speaks.
Who will keep her safe?
As he did.
To imagine now we could be within the trees, back within familiar branches, familiar soils.
Safe. Safe from the jungles. Safe from the void.
The fates of this world twist and turn to some rhythm of cruelty.
Good deeds stand for not in the face of some manner of deception,
but when deception is done with good intent does this make it a bad thing?
When protection comes at the cost of lack of knowledge,
Does that make the people ignorant?
Does it only blind them from the truths when displayed before them,
I do wonder.
I am reminded of a time long ago,
In a distant land, a land to simply be rumors and whispers..
Spoken of in fairytales and folk lore..
That of the lands of Mystara.
Where a similar fate was endured…
..And We.. as in I.. was yet able to rise above it.
Where has this hate been drawn from?
Do you so fear this much?
Do you fear me now?
The Governor Jil is no more.
You have killed him.
Consider yourself blessed he even walked among you for a short time.
And where he once stood now stands only I.
Jens, Prince of Shadows.
And I will give you reason to hate.
And I will give you reason to fear.
For I am the Prince Eternal.

Pirate blood stains the beach and their bones litter the ocean floor after citizens of Eyr rallied to roust the scoundrels and attempt to take back those who were taken. Revenge has been enacted, the captive reclaimed and stolen goods recouped. It is indeed a day to celebrate as the ship, although severely damaged, appears to have a full cargo within its hold.
Members of the Moei Asing and Stormstead both celebrate Ornith’s return. The shaken elven woman lies dehydrated and weakened from her ordeal in the Medica. She is expected to recover fully though she may battle the memories of the horror that took place for years to come.
The whole incident was set off when a small group of obviously nervous and undoubtedly frightened pirates stepped across the threshold of the Salty Swallow just as people were beginning to celebrate the success of the ‘Seasonal Pot.’ Proving that there is no honor among thieves, their spokesperson, Naseer, plead for leniency and offered up the date and location for when the pirates would begin ferrying their ill-gotten gains to the ship, “Scorpion’s Sting.” In exchange he and his entourage were allowed to leave with their heads still attached.
The battle began on Sunday at midday. Sails were spotted in the distance as pirates scuttled about the beach in preparation to depart with their last boatload of stolen goods. A wave of citizens swept the beach led by the Shadow Prince himself and quickly followed by Captain Valkyrie and Wanton Aime. Allynna of the Moei Asing added her weaponry to the fray and a young Roc appeared and began an aerial attack, raining rocks and fish down onto the hapless pirates. The battle also spilled over into the waters where a savage group of Merfolk awaited, led by Derek Marshall and later joined by Alithia. At the thick of the battle, Clover swooped up the beach armed with her customary button and needle to help take out one of the final cargo-loading pirates.
The battle continued on the ship with even more citizens pouring in. Daniel and Arakaki fought bravely, taking several injuries themselves, but they are a formidable duo. The waters began frothing with the fury of the sirens attack below. Soon afterwards, the pirate bodies began once again to pile up.
As the screams were dying down, the real horror emerged. Captain Scorrow – clad in black and wielding her magics and venomous sting, she lashed out, spinning and dodging and spewing venom. Her rage made her careless and she underestimated the powers of the crowd. Swiftly incapacitated, her last gasp offensive was to summon up a wave of negative energy. It struck like a lighting bolt destroying not only herself but cracking the very hull of the ship, leaving it debilitated and listing badly above the Mer reef.
Pirates and other predators have historically made their way up the Kuvari to wreak havoc upon our citizens. The fact that they appeared again is nothing new. However the victory that was won by Eyr is truly unprecedented. Never in recent memory has such a punishment been dealt to those who would trespass against us. My hope that this serves as a deterrent against future attacks. The complete annihilation of the cutthroats that wronged us is a demonstration to all who pass through our jungle that we are a force to be reckoned with. Let this serve as warning.

There have been many strange happenings as of late regarding our own Stormstead government and its members these past few weeks.
- The Governor’s extended absence investigating Ebon Reach;
- The equally mysterious and extended absence of Council member Jens;.
- An heroic act of revenge gone awry resulting in near-death injuries
It all started last week when the Mer Cleric, Kel’iah, stumbled on weak legs to the Hand Crafted Dock. She told a tale of kidnapping, hostage-taking, threats of torture, and eventual escape and release. All involving Stormstead’s own council member, Prince Jens.
Our own Governor Jil had appointed Wanton Aime to act in his stead while he conducted a personal investigation into Ebon Reach. He had been missing for several days and citizens were beginning to worry. However he appeared near the dock within moments after Kel’iah had blurted out her story, lead by the Mer Matriarch, Alithia. His explanation for extended absence was that he fell victim to yet another Ebon Reach trap, having managed to escape with injury. Indeed, there were marks about his wrists attesting to this. Though obviously weak and in need of recovery, Jil listened to the facts presented by Kel’iah and then weighed in quickly with a decision. Subsequent orders were then issued to the Guard Captain, Valkyrie, to seek out Jens for questioning in regard to this matter. The Prince’ absence remains conspicuous, however, and now we must wonder if he indeed escaped at all. Kel’iah’s report indicated that he had been injured in their escape from the deep recesses of Ebon Reach. No one has reported seeing him since.
The information Kel’iah presented was confusing. One key question — who or what is Ka’al? Kel’iah reported that she happened upon a being called Ka’al who was not only
wearing apparel similar to Jens but also wearing a necklace she herself had given to Jens. Is this character real? Were strange magics at work? Reportedly, this Ka’al entity escorted her to the depths of Ebon Reach and this is where the story gets even more twisted.
Ka’al himself was tricked and imprisoned in a cage. But while caged he underwent some sort of transformation and Jens appeared within as reported by Kel’iah. Who is Ka’al and what are his ties to Jens? Again, makes one ponder the state of the Mer’s faculties. Or wonder at strange magics at play. And what of the rest of those present? Kel’iah reported they were pressed to surrender blood samples by evil denizens of the Reach. She described a hooded figure that sounds very much like the lich ‘Hikari’ whose attacks menaced the village several months back. The Mer also identified Mal as being present. The impossible-to-kill Necrowolf who has re-emerged as a lich. Threats of torture were delivered and questioning ensued at the hands of the masked figure and the Necrowolf. Serious injury and even the possibility of death seemed imminent until Kel’iah and Jens staged an escape.. The attempt resulted in Kel’iah being tossed to the waters. The last sighting Kel’iah had of Jens showed him as injured and still within the clutches of the Reach.
News of the incident was passed on to Stormstead council members at the last council gathering. News of this latest betray by the Reach and the Necrowolf’s involvement triggered yet more violence as Daniel and Kaori took to the caverns of Ebon Reach in search of the villain. Both of whom received grave injury and missing limbs for their foolhardy efforts. Indeed, the pair are lucky to be alive.
Sadly, this reporter doesn’t know what transpired after that as reports have been varied and confusing. As of this date the Prince remains missing. Stormstead’s guard continues their search. Jil has returned to governing as usual. And Daniel and Kaori are recuperating.
Where is the Prince of Shadows? Is he still being held below? Why did lead Kel’iah into Ebon Reach? What of Ka’al? Is he real or a delusion wrought by fear and stress? Why is Ebon Reach setting traps for surface citizens? For what foul purpose are they collecting blood? Much remains unanswered as the questions only bring on more questions.

A mysterious black sand is contaminating the Kuvari River between the village of Stormstead and the area of the Mystfolk Mound. The Shoal are advised to steer clear of the area even as the Moei Asing people warn us away from it. The source of the taint seems to be a black ichorous sand, which is currently being tested. So far it seems that certain forms of magic used on it result in catastrophic effects, causing bubbling, splashing, or ballistic movements of the water surrounding the black sand. There is even reports that standing near it can cause burning of the skin. Also found in the vicinity were the presence of hundreds of dead scarabs along the bank and the rocks lining the river.
Triana, the Medica’s lead healer, is now scarred with marks from the sand after a vicious scuffle with a mummy-type of creature. The black sand has retained it’s dangerous properties – avoid this area if at all possible until the problem is properly contained. A test sample was taken to the Governor’s hut for testing and experimentation to determine the next best course of action. The sample itself was transported through the village only after it was ensured that no other villagers would be in harms way. Construction of a barrier has to try to contain the effects of the black sand while cleaning the area has commenced.

Stormstead has claimed a new Governor. Jil, the eleven diplomat from Mystara lead the race and has selected his Council. Wanton Aime, Valkyrie Aste Munthe, Gideon, and – the surprise nominee for council – Jens IxChel. Jens remained unseen, though voiced his acceptance for the position through a powerful inky fog which appeared within the tavern.
This evening, Wanton entranced the village with words of Stormstead history’s past before inviting the candidates to give their speeches.
The following is an account of speeches given. While they are as verbatim as possible, some things may have been changed or altered out of failure of the mind to recall the spoken words perfectly.
Boobette: Boobette was first to giver her own, but it seemed she was a bit under prepared. As she scrambled to improvise a speech on-the-spot, she claimed she was running for the position of “Boobette.” Upon realizing her flub, she then belatedly corrected it to ‘Governor.’ She declared her desire to win and encouraged Stormstead to vote for her.”
Pester: Pester followed with… his usual eloquent self. He said he sometimes goes by One-Eye and that he was running for governor, because the position should be his. He explains he has been here in Eyr to have seen it all; enduring all kinds of troubles, including terrible storms and clashes with the natives. He enjoys the pretty ladies and finds days without them the worst. Stormstead is great to him, and Pester holds experience and Knowledge. He wanted to make a law where pretty ladies can not wear much clothing and enjoys the thought of pardons being discussed on his lap – much to the distress of many of those present.
Gideon: Gideon apparently was unable to speak and Blanche read his words for him. Due to his injuries, Gideon had to concede his candidacy for village governor. He admits he can not speak or hear, and he questions whether he will be able to adapt or regain these abilities. He chose to drop out of the race for the betterment of Stormstead. He thanked any who have voted for him, but asked that they recast their votes for another candidate that would give the best protection of interests for the village. He implored we have to stay vigilant, protect the borders, and ensure the people remain fed while maintaining high morale. He reminds us that there are others that will seek us harm and we should keep an eye out.
Jil: Jil hails from a kingdom far away and gone in the myst. A place where others have came from. He served the royal families and held a title of Knight and Ambassador. He is experienced in politics and village affairs. He thinks this will aid him as a strong leader. He is loyal and dedicated and only left his old place and his duties there because the lands are no more. He pledged that he will now give his dedication and loyalty to any of Stormstead regardless of age, social standing, or race. That his hands, heart, and soul will be utilized to better the village in order for it to prosper and thrive.
Ceallach Heavenmyst: Ceallach Heavenmyst found running for Governor as an opportunity to better the land. He asked that no one judge him too quickly, and listed his life experiences. He has trained in the art of blacksmith—taking time to learn how to use the weapons he creates. He has lived a long life, performed as a guard before, and played roles as leader and general of a vast army. He once held the title of Taren in an elven kingdom, though was met with bad times in his prime. He had been involved in many wars and will do the same if a time comes to take up arms especially in defense of Stormstead. He wants to build the village. Make allies where we can, especially since the village struggles with natives and wrongdoers all the time. Ceallach has kept his word and has joined the Stormstead guards to protect the village and each and every one in it. He works hard to rebuild the guard house that recently burned down. Ceallach is here when we need him, and offers an ear to those needing it most. Even if he is not elected Governor, he vows to make the village proud.
At the end of the speeches, the votes were collected and totaled. While it became clear it was a very close race between Ceallach and Jil, Jil was the one that became elected as the new Governor.
The newly elected Governor Jil stated that he wishes to make Stormstead feel like a home. That he will focus on companionship, acceptance and friendship in times of war and peace. He said Stormstead will stand strong against the invaders and anyone seeking wrong. That Stormstead will weather nature. He intends for Stormstead to prosper as a community and stand firm against any adversary. He proclaims this is a new age with new traditions for Stormstead and called forth a council from a book. One which is said to hold past deeds of those of Stormstead. He intends the council to be a pillar, and foundation of regrowth. That they will help advise, support and offer aid. The council is meant to always work towards the betterment of the town and its people.
Stormstead’s Council is Chosen:
- Wanton Aime was called upon as being one of Stormstead’s most supportive members. His ownership of the Salty Swallow helps aid in being one of the first locations many will meet at when arriving to the village. He has aided in conducting assemblies and offering much needed knowledge.
- Valkyrie Aste Munthe was called upon as the Captain of the Guards. One that is experience and wise in the nature of law. Her voice is valued on the council. The Guard Captain recently suffered an attack on the guard house due to her dedication.
- Gideon was called upon to serve on the Stormstead council. His campaign for governor was a grand one, revealing all the things that makes Gideon, Gideon. He chose to wear no mask nor hide that he is a demon. He is honest and hardworking. He has risked much for Stormstead already and will no doubt continue to do so.
- Jens Ixchel. Lastly – and most alarmingly to some of those present – The Shadow Prince – Jens IxChel, someone unknown and previously believed to be far away in Shalan’ti – was called and asked to serve upon the council. A great shadow fog swirled into existence within the tavern and Jens’ voice sounded from within it. There was no visible signs of the entity himself, though the voice was clearly recognized by Blanche Greyling. Nothing was really said of Jens’ service to Stormstead, only his deeds of old. It was even stated that possibly due to his close workings with Harlow back in Mystara, it was hinted that his actions here may have remained secretive and unknown thus far. The citizens of Stormstead shall soon find out.
